Uncovet Necklace Shirt Print Bag Notecard1

I love Uncovet.com. Much like Gilt, or Just Fab, Uncovet brings to its registered users a selection of goods that is crush worthy and cool, but Uncovet makes its case championing the new designer, the edgy collection and the chic find.

With new daily selections hand picked by Uncovet stylist, the online boutique gathers tshirts, charm bracelets and knick-knacks from design shops all over the web. This particular collection caught my eye on a chilly, pre-spring evening – check out the rest the site has to offer.

The Power of the Poppy

poppies-plentyofcolour_poppiesff12

Is it just us, or does merely looking at spring-like images bring hope that these dark, grey days are short lived?

They are shorter-lived than they may seem, by the way — 36 days until spring!

Until then, here are a few poppy options (poptions? anyone?) that are simultaneously cheering us up and making our credit cards sad.

Randolph Street Market

Randolph Market Scene

Last weekend Laura and I made our second appearance at the Randolph Street Market, home to Chicago antique dealers, indie designers, vintage collectors and unique crafters.

I think it’s important for us all to acknowledge that I was having a really great hair day that day.

But I digress.  We marched ourselves through rain, wind and the west loop and headed to scoop up last minute Christmas presents and hopefully score some jewelry while we were at it.  We had only been during the summer when the parking lot was jammed with vendors and empanada hawkers, so while we weren’t quite sure what to expect.  The pared down, indoor-only venue was certainly less overwhelming, but we still had a great time perusing vintage Chanel and pawing our way through bins of antique necklaces.  Can’t wait until next time!

Winter Whites

In the past week, I have hit my nose on a drawer (resulting in a lovely mid-schnoz booboo and highly attractive swelling), dropped and shattered an entire jar of spaghetti sauce, face planted on the sidewalk after trying to jump over a puddle in heels (yup), and burned a hole right through a shirt.

It would be the Understatement of 2012 to say that I’m a klutz.

Sadly, this means that a white-on-white winter ensemble is not likely anywhere in my near future, but a girl can dream.

Rent the Runway Loves Chicago (We Love You Too.)

We had no fun at Chicago Blogger Network’s RTR Party.

No fun at all.

Actually, we had a total blast. Earlier this month, the beauties and brains over at Chicago Blogger Network teamed up with Rent the Runway to showcase a sampling of winter dresses just in time for cocktail party season! The W CityCenter was totally packed with fashionistas, bloggers, and loyal customers to the brand. It was our first official blogger’s event so we were a little nervous, but we grabbed a few glasses of wine, made some new friends, and drooled over dresses for a few hours. In other words, our dream night.

If you’re not familiar, Rent the Runway is a service that allows you to rent designer dresses for a fraction of what they would cost to buy them retail. They’ll ship you two sizes so there’s no worry about fit, and you can also chat online with a stylist if you’re worried about making the right choice. You can check out photos of real girls in the dresses (sort by your height and body type!), read reviews, and you won’t be fined for those life-happens spills, burns, etc.

We know, it’s genius, right?

We couldn’t snap any decent photos of the dresses because it was pretty dark in there (and fine, our hands were full of wine glasses, thanks again CBN!), so instead we hopped online to pick out New Years Eve outfits from RTR — we’re still working to finalize our plans for the holiday, but if they even REMOTELY qualify as dressy, we’ve got a plan.

Lucky Horn

Lucky Horn could be my favorite new Etsy shop – and lucky you, I thought I’d share just in time for the holidays.  With a diverse mix of leathers and metals, the seller has trendy items for both men and women, and the prices are reasonable!  Many of the items are customizable with names, special dates or your favorite little saying.  I picked out a few favorites but trust me when I say it was hard to choose.  Enjoy!

“I was going to conquer the world, but got distracted by something sparkly…”

Quote by unknown 🙂

I saw this photo of Scarlett Johanssen the other day and while I can’t find the source of it for the life of me, I am officially obsessed with the look. I’m thinking a beaded skirt needs to make its way into my closet this holiday season.

Choices, choices…

Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection

Never have I been as interested in the commercials as I am in my beloved Revenge, but I was definitely loving Target’s mini-series campaign, “The Gift of Revenge” that debuted on this week’s episode. Target is collaborating with Neiman Marcus for a collection that leaves the holiday lover in me and the deal lover in me jumping for joy, singing Christmas carols and calling my sissy to brag about my awesome deal all at once.

Premiering just in time for your holiday shopping and party season on December 1st, the collection is packed with lots of unique gifts and some seriously gorgeous party dresses and sparkly tops.  Tis the season!

Autumn Ankle Boots

To anyone giving a cursory glance towards my ankles lately (um, who isn’t?), it’s no secret I’m all about the ankle boot trend this season. I’m loving the shapes, sizes, cuts and colors – what’s that sound? Oh, riiiight, it’s my wallet groaning in agreement. Quiet down, you silly thing! We’re trying to look at boots here.
